We firmly believe that joy is universal and what better way to celebrate this than through language.

We wanted to start with a language that is close to our hearts and one that we aim to learn more of to be able to teach Auben too. We worked with a number of our friends on this design and the kupu. We feel this design not only depicts what we believe joy to be but is also our experience of what Māori culture is. We are so very grateful to be on the receiving end of shared joy through kai, becoming part of friends whānau and through the sharing of kupu and culture. This is our little way of saying thank you.

To us it is incredibly important that the language generates the meaning and then the translation follows as we do not like the idea of forcing a language into what we want it to mean. We love where this design has taken us and we hope you do too.
